BROADWELL, IL – Ernie and Fran Edwards Route 66 International Appreciation Day has been set for 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at the Pig Hip restaurant site in Broadwell.

The free celebration will be a time for the public to visit, reminisce and enjoy a free cookout.
At 2 p.m., the Route 66 Preservation Committee will dedicate the restored Pig Hip sign and marker.
Edwards, who was known for his tall white chef’s hat and equally tall tales, owned and operated the Pig Hip on Route 66 in Broadwell for many years.
