New Dates for Hall of Fame Nominations Announced!

Please note that a new period for Hall of Fame nomination submissions has been implemented. The new Hall of Fame nomination period is between
October 1 and December 31, 2013.

What follows is the official Hall of Fame nomination information compiled by Kathy Miller, which succinctly and accurately details what is needed for nomination.


The Route 66 Association of Illinois Annual Hall of Fame Nominations

The Route 66 Association of Illinois will begin seeking nominations for the 2014 Hall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted from October 1st, until December 31st, 2013.

Palms Grill Café Manager Steps Down

The following press released was provided by Bill Thomas of the Atlanta Public Library.

Ronda McBride, current manager of The Palms Grill Café, has announced that due to her ongoing battle with cancer, her last day of operating The Grill will be Friday, October 25, 2013. Ronda began operating the Palms Grill Cafe this past May, but due to the seriousness of her illness, now needs to focus her attention on her health.

The Next Session of Dongbai’s International Airbrush Art School Classes Announced

Tang Dongbai, an internationally renowned airbrush artist, muralist and creator of the Dong Ning UV “Invisible Art” technique, will be holding his next session of airbrush art classes starting November 4th at the International Airbrush Art School in Pontiac, IL. This session will run Monday-Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.


The course is an intensive two week study that begins with basic airbrush technique in week one. The second week is self-directed by the student and can focus on any of Dongbai’s many specialties, such as mural art, car and motorcycle painting, UV art and 3D art. Class size is limited to keep the instructor to student ratio small and allow for individualized instruction.

Thank you to our Preservation Chairman, John Weiss, for submitting the following information:

There is going to be another work day at the Sprague Super Service site, 305 E. Pine St, Normal, IL on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 9:30 AM.

Last April we had a work day and accomplished a lot, but we were not able to complete the project. I am determined this time to finish the needed work in the downstairs visitor area that we started. I need your help! Having this wonderful site sitting there half finished is just not acceptable. We need to band together and help Terri get this project completed.
