Community Art Center Opens in Downtown Pontiac

Thanks to Ellie Alexander, Director of Pontiac, IL Tourism for providing the following press release for us to share:

Pontiac Art Center.jpgA collective comprised of Pontiac artists has opened a new store in downtown Pontiac starting this holiday season. The Community Art Center is located at 101 West Madison Street in the building formerly occupied by How Sweet It Is. They will be open Monday through Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, on Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and on Sundays 12 to 4.

The genesis of the The Art Center came from a group of Walldogs and about a dozen local artists who wanted to offer their artworks to the public. The center provides studio space and a retail outlet for the works of many types. Currently on sale for the holiday gift-giving season are works of art including: paintings, ceramics, ink drawings, sculpture, textile works, and jewelry.

Pontiac Art Center 1.jpgIt is hoped that local artists will receive enough public support to enable them to continue to operate the Art Center in their current location, or at another site, for the foreseeable future. Artists who are interested in becoming a part of the Community Art Center should contact Julie Fraher at (815) 673-8256.
