On Sunday, August 21, the Route 66 Association of Illinois held an appreciation luncheon for Bob Karls. He and Betty Estes were the first Pontiac supporters of the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame & Museum. Bob related the whole story of how the museum got a “place to live” and how it was moved from the Dixie Truck Stop to Pontiac. Over the years, as the city manager of Pontiac, he has helped us get the things we needed and helped us maintain the museum property. We owe him a great deal of appreciation for his support and a whole lot more.
It’s always nice to see Bob at the museum and just walking around town or at city events, checking things out. That he was always available and visible is a great asset to the community. With his retirement he will be greatly missed.
