Event description:
At 8 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017, CORE of McLean, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is holding our 4th annual 6.6k (4.1-mile) run/walk on Route 66 from Funks Grove to McLean to benefit the community of McLean, IL. All proceeds will go to local projects. Favorites such as the pre-race shot of pure maple sirup and commemorative shot glasses, awesome t-shirts, and post-race food, drinks, and entertainment on the square will be back. We will also have Ruby’s Rescue & Retreat with adoptable dogs and puppies, a classic car show, and a team trivia event. See the race webpage for more details.

4TH ANNUAL GET YOUR 6.6 ON ROUTE 66 (6.6k run/walk) on SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 2017 at 8 AM
McLean, IL – Participants get the chance to run or walk from Funks Grove to McLean on the Mother Road and receive a pre-race shot of Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup and commemorative shot glass, t-shirt, and other goodies.
Afterwards, all can gather on the McLean town square, where the Dixie restaurant will have brunch items; Parkview Inn will have smoothies, mimosas, beer, wine, and other beverage selections; Light & Sound by Josh Ummel will offer fun tunes; and Redbird Catering will be grilling up lunch food. There will also be a classic car show, photography by Diane Greene, bags games provided by Evergreen FS, puppies from Ruby’s Rescue & Retreat, and vintage arcade games at Arcadia and Pinball Paradise, located on the square.
New this year: from 10 am to 12 pm, Mt. Hope–Funks Grove Park District will be sponsoring a team trivia event in the beverage tent. Teams of up to six people can compete for the grand prize, a certificate for a bundle of meat from Bloomington Meats (one certificate per team member). West St, McLean) between 7:30 and 11:30 am Monday through Friday.
This event is held by CORE of McLean, a nonprofit community organization, with the generous help and support of those mentioned above as well as Sugar Grove Nature Center of McLean, Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta, Full Gospel Tabernacle of Heyworth, and Illinois Central School Bus of Bloomington.
